Welcome to Geetar.io !!

Geetar.io Documentation (GET1033)

Welcome to the documentation page of an interactive guitar tool app created by Koh Yi Da and Wong Liang Hsi!

What is Geetar.io?
Geetar.io is a simple interactive chord library/tuner application to aid YOU in your learning journey on the guitar, all hosted on OpenProcessing and accessible just from your web browser!
Access it here: Geetar.io on OpenProcessing

How do I use Geetar.io?

It's simple!
-First, search for a chord in the '
Search for a chord!' input box eg. 'Cmaj7' (without the inverted commas).
       -Click on
'Search!' to look up that chord in our in-built library.
       -Click '
Strum again!' to strum the guitar again. Click 'Strum down!' to strum the guitar in reverse.

What do the dots, circles and crosses mean?

-In Geetar.io, we use black dots to indicate the frets that you must press to sound the same chord.
-The circles indicate the strings that are to be left open, but still played.
-The black cross indicate the strings that must not be played OR fretted.

Can I make my own Chords?

-Under the 'Create' section, you can manually define your own chords and your own name for these chords. Each box is labelled with a respective letter to represent the string that your choice of frets (or muted/open strings) will reflect on.
-Once you have decided on your custom frets, choose a name, but don't name it something that has already been defined! Click 'Create' for this chord to be stored in our library.
-Congratulations! You can now use the name you defined to call this chord again.

How can I tune my guitar?

Open String Buttons
-On the right hand side of the screen, there are 6 buttons that correspond to the open strings of the guitar. Click on these buttons to sound the open strings!
-*psst* There exist shortcuts to trigger the open strings. Try pressing buttons 'SHIFT + 1' to 'SHIFT + 6'

Why use Geetar.io?

-Geetar.io is created to complement the learning process by allowing a player to easily access and learn from a large library of chords. Our audio playback capability allows the user to experiment with different kinds of chords and chord voicings, as well as to provide real-time audio auralization of these chords.

Lets see it in action!

-A video tutorial for Geetar.io is provided to showcase the functionality of our program. Check it out: Geetar.io Short Demo! on Youtube

What was the process behind creating Geetar.io?

-Check out my other post titled "GET1033 Final Project Reflection" for a detailed guide and explanation of the creation process as to how this programme was coded and designed!

Is this free to use?

-This project is hosted completely on OpenProcessing.org itself. All projects are under Creative Commons License Attribution 4.0 International. Feel free to remix and modify the project!
